Counselling is Confidential

Confidentiality
All personal information gathered by EMJ Counselling, including information transcribed through the note-taking process, will remain confidential and secure, except in the following circumstances:
1. If subpoenaed by a court.
2. If failure to disclose the information would place you or another person at serious and imminent risk.
3. If you have provided prior approval to:
o Provide a written report to another professional or agency (e.g., a lawyer).
o Discuss the material with another person (e.g., a parent or employer).
4. The counsellor may disclose personal information, where reasonable, to another professional or agency (e.g., your GP) for purposes directly related to the primary aim of your therapy.
Do I need a Mental Health Care Plan?
No. Currently Medicare does not provide any rebate for counselling services provided by a registered counsellor so a Mental Health Care Plan is not necessary.
Do you offer telehealth and in person sessions?
Yes, I offer both in-person and telehealth counselling session for both individual and couples counselling.
You can select the option that works best for you when booking your appointment.
Services Provided
I offer counselling services for individuals and couples.
Please note that I do not provide counselling for children, adolescents, or families.
How do I pay for the session?
50% of the fee is required at the time of booking. The following 50% of the fee is required at the end of the session. Cash or card is accepted.
Do I need a referral?
No. I accept self-referrals as well as referrals from other healthcare professionals.
Fees
Individual sessions are $150.
Couples sessions are $210.
How long are session?
Individual sessions run for 50-60 mins.
Couples sessions run for 75 mins.
Cancellation Policy
Cancellation fees charged are:
1. Reschedule before 72 hours of appointment time: No charge.
2. Reschedule or cancellation within 72 hours of appointment time: 50% of fee taken at the time of booking.
3. Reschedule or cancellation within 48-24 hours of appointment notice: Full fee.
4. Missed appointments/no shows: Full fee.
As a courtesy to you, we send out an email 7 days before the appointment time and an SMS reminder 4 days before the appointment time.
EMJ Counselling reserves the right to reschedule appointments at any time, without compensation, if it is deemed necessary due to staff illness or other unforeseen circumstances.
If reschedules become a regular occurrence, clients will be encouraged to reassess whether therapy is something they want to continue with at this time.
